What Filip Jorgensen did in the Chelsea dressing room after his mistakes in 5-2 PSG defeat

After the hour mark, it looked as if Chelsea might earn themselves a draw in Paris. But by full-time, Chelsea had suffered a 5-2 hammering, and Filip Jorgensen was largely to blame.

The Blues gave a good account of themselves, coming from behind twice thanks to goals from Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez. But with the game poised at 2-2, Jorgensen lost the ball and PSG scored.

There are plenty of comparisons between Jorgensen, and Tottenham’s Antonin Kinsky. Spurs lost 5-2 in their first leg away from home, like Chelsea. The younger of two goalkeepers picked gave the ball away.

Owen Hargreaves and Joe Cole defended Jorgensen however, with the pundits praising his performance before his mistake, which resulted in Vitinha chipping him. Jorgensen might have saved PSG’s fifth, too.

Liam Rosenior shares what Filip Jorgensen did in dressing room

It was a contentious decision going into the game. Sweden goalkeeper Jorgensen, who has been back-up to Robert Sanchez ever since his £20m arrival from Villarreal, was picked over the error-prone Spaniard.

Rosenior opted to go with Jorgensen after his impressive outing at Aston Villa but with PSG scoring five goals and Jorgensen at fault for two at least, it is a decision that has backfired. Rosenior spoke afterwards.

Rosenior said Jorgensen apologised to his teammates: “Credit to him, held his hands up in the dressing room. Everyone makes mistakes; sometimes they’re more costly than others. This is one of those.”

Who starts in goal against Newcastle and PSG next week?

Before the trip to Paris, The Chelsea Chronicle held a poll asking fans which goalkeeper should be no.1 between the sticks. A total of 74% of supporters voted Jorgensen should come in, instead of Sanchez.

Well, after Wednesday night’s defeat, it is easy to imagine that the total of 74% will have likely gone down. Jorgensen did make some excellent saves, but the mistakes are remembered more readily.

It will be interesting to see who Rosenior starts on Saturday night against Newcastle, and then PSG next week. Does he give Jorgensen a run to get into the groove, or does he return to the elder Sanchez?
