Arsenal have required ingenuity this season as they navigate injuries whilst battling across four competitions. Matters could become simpler in the summer, however, with Julian Alvarez declining to dismiss a potential departure from current employers Atletico Madrid.

On the field, Arsenal and nearest rivals Manchester City will resume league duties over the weekend following their European commitments on Wednesday. Mikel Arteta's side host Everton at the Emirates whilst City will also be in the capital as they visit West Ham.

Our attention for now centres on the Gunners' transfer strategies alongside Arteta's involvement in a tactical adjustment which has benefited them this campaign.

Alvarez maintained he remains content at Atletico Madrid presently. Nevertheless, the Argentina forward, who has been connected with Arsenal and Barcelona, has declined to dismiss a potential switch in future, reports the Mirror.

"I don't know, I don't know, but maybe yes, maybe no. You never know," the former City star said. "But I'm very happy here. You ask me a question that will end up all over the place, but I'm happy.

"I'm thinking about the day-to-day, I'm working to improve, to give my best here, I never said anything bad about the club, I'm very grateful, the people also showed me their affection, so I'm very happy."

Arsenal have been compelled to handle a number of injury setbacks at the back this season. Consequently, midfielder Christian Norgaard has discovered himself required to drop deeper.

The Danish international, who arrived from Brentford over the summer, started at centre-back against Club Brugge in the Champions League in December. He has discussed his willingness towards the new role, so much so that his national team manager Brian Riemer is examining the possibility of deploying him in the position.

"It actually suits me very well," Norgaard told Viaplay. "As a defender, you have a lot of the game in front of you. In the long run, it could be a good and suitable position for me. It's nice to have a phase where I try it out." He and Arteta have even broached the subject with Riemer.

"It's always nice when time is set aside for something like this," the 32 year old added. We were just discussing this potential opportunity for me to play centre-back. It was great that Brian could hear what thoughts and challenges Arsenal have had."
