Fans cheer as Lakers guard Luka Doncic, #77 and fellow Lakers players take the court before a game with the Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Slovenian guard Luka Doncic is reportedly not dating Madelyn Cline, contrary to reports that the Los Angeles Lakers star has been in a relationship with the “Outer Banks” actress since his split from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.

According to TMZ, there’s “absolutely nothing going on” between Doncic and Cline amid speculation that they recently began seeing each other.

“Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ … they’re not dating, and to take it a step further, they’ve never even met each other,” read the report published on Wednesday.

Speculation about a romantic interest between Doncic and Cline began when fans noticed the two started following each other on Instagram last week. The timing of the events also raised suspicion since Doncic’s breakup with Goltes was made official.

“We’ve reached out to reps for Luka and Madelyn … so far, no word back,” added TMZ.

Luka Doncic in Custody Battle

Doncic confirmed on Tuesday that he’s no longer engaged to his longtime partner, Goltes, telling ESPN that he’s involved in a custody battle for his two daughters.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” he said in a statement.

“Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

TMZ earlier reported that Goltes filed a petition for child support in the United States, with court documents claiming that she moved back to Slovenia in May 2025. Subsequently, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that Doncic had not seen his daughters since Dec. 2025, when he flew to Slovenia for the birth of his second child, Olivia. The report added that Doncic wanted to bring his first daughter, Gabriela, back to the United States but was prevented from doing so by his then-fiancée.

Lakers Fight For Top-Six Seed

Doncic became emotional when asked about leaving his daughters back in Slovenia.

“I don’t even know how to describe it,” Doncic said of his tumultuous trip in Dec.

“It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller coaster.”

Thankfully for the Lakers, Doncic’s personal dilemma has not affected his on-court performance. The All-NBA guard tallied 31 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and a block during Tuesday’s 120-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The win over the Timberwolves was particularly crucial, given that the two teams are locked in a tight battle for seeding in the Western Conference. As of Thursday morning, the fourth-seeded Lakers (40-25) had a 1.0-game lead over the sixth-seeded Timberwolves (40-26) but shared an identical record with the third-seeded Houston Rockets. Ultimately, the West standings could be decided by tiebreakers.

Last year, the Lakers suffered a gentleman’s sweep at the hands of the Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs, when their perimeter defense was severely exposed.
