Liverpool’s recent transfer business in the women’s game means a growing number of former Reds are now quietly becoming important figures elsewhere in the WSL. One of those familiar faces has just been rewarded for her impact in claret and blue with a new contract in the Midlands.
Aston Villa have moved to secure the long‑term future of former Liverpool midfielder Miri Taylor after announcing that she has signed a new contract with the club. The 26-year-old has become a trusted squad option in the Midlands following her initial loan switch from Liverpool, and Villa have now underlined that faith by tying her down to fresh terms.
Taylor first arrived at Villa Park on loan from Liverpool in the second half of the 2023/24 Women’s Super League campaign, stepping in as Carla Ward’s side looked to bolster their midfield depth for the run-in. Her eight league appearances in that spell were enough to convince the club to make the deal permanent the following summer, with Villa handing her a two‑year contract and an option year in July 2024.
That permanent move ended an 18‑month stint at Liverpool and has since gone on to make 49 appearances in claret and blue.
The Scottish international has previous experienced in the NWSL with Angel City and come through college football in the United States.
“Miri has been an important part of the group since arriving at the club,” said Marisa Ewers, Director of Women’s Football at Aston Villa.
“She has shown real consistency in her performances and continues to develop both on and off the pitch.
“We are pleased she will continue to be part of what we are building here at Aston Villa.”
The news arrives after West Ham signed another former Reds player in Katie Zelem during the January window.
