Khvicha Kvaratskhelia explains exactly why PSG beat Chelsea in the Champions League

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia inspired Paris Saint-Germain to a 5-2 win over Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Kvaratskhelia came off the bench to score two goals and register an assist against Liam Rosenior’s side.

Filip Jorgensen was at fault for PSG’s third goal, but Kvaratskhelia thinks his team’s win was down to more than individual errors from the opponent.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia suggests PSG wanted win more than Chelsea

Understandably, Kvaratskhelia is delighted with PSG’s victory over Chelsea. They are now almost certain to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals and have got their revenge against the Blues after losing to them in last year’s Club World Cup final.

The winger has now put PSG’s win simply down to the team really desiring it and fighting until the full-time whistle.

In a post-match interview, which has been shared by PSG’s official club website, Kvaratskhelia said: “Even if we are leading 3-2 or 4-2 we always want to score more. I think we won because we wanted it so much and fought right to the end. I’m very happy that we produced such an amazing performance tonight.”

Kvaratskhelia was actually linked to Chelsea when he was still at Napoli. In the end, though, the 25-year-old joined PSG, a decision that he will have no regrets about.

Last season, Kvaratskhelia was able to win both the Ligue 1 title and Champions League trophy.

PSG only won because of Chelsea errors

Did PSG really show more desire to win than Chelsea? No. Did they fight harder than their English counterparts? No.

Luis Enrique’s side were afforded ridiculous opportunities and took them. It is as simple as that.

PSG have a lot of quality players in their squad, including Kvaratskhelia, who was not even named in the starting XI. That quality really came through but not without a helping hand from Chelsea, who are too often their own worst enemy.

They play Newcastle United next in the Premier League before welcoming PSG to Stamford Bridge. Their focus needs to be on that and not the second leg of their last 16 Champions League tie, with their hopes of making it to the quarter-finals all but over.
