“I’d love to” – Liverpool player makes transfer desire public, keen to fulfil it

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister says he’s keen on returning to Argentina at some stage of his playing career.

The Argentina international has been speaking to streamer La Agusneta and Planeta Boca Juniors have relayed his comments on future plans.

The Liverpool player came up through the ranks of Argentinos Juniors’ youth system. He made his way into their first team in 2016 and had a spell on loan with Boca Juniors.

Mac Allister moved to Europe for the first time when Brighton & Hove Albion signed him in 2019.

Three years ago, Liverpool brought him to Anfield from their Premier League rivals for a reported fee of £35m [€40.5m].

Liverpool player has 2 clubs in mind

The 27-year-old has explained he can no longer think only about himself when making a decision over his future.

He has to take his family into consideration, which is why the World Cup winner wants to return to his home country.

“I’d love to go back to Argentina. But, well, I became a father, and you start prioritising a lot of things. Maybe it’s not so selfish to focus solely on what I want,” he said.

The midfielder is clear that if he were to return to Argentine, his priority would be to play for one of his former clubs.

He favours Argentinos Juniors over Boca Juniors and has also explained the key reason for that.

Mac Allister explained: “But yes, I’d love to return to Argentinos Juniors because my dad and my brothers all grew up there, and we’re grateful. And then, obviously, to Boca at some point.”

Planeta Boca Juniors insist the Liverpool player is well aware he won’t return to Argentina in the near future. This would only be taken into account in a ‘few years’.
