Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez makes telling gesture to the PSG fans amid interest

All the talk of late has been about Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer interest in Enzo Fernandez, but he sent a message to the Parc des Princes after scoring his Chelsea goal in the Champions League.

It was a similar tale for Chelsea under Liam Rosenior, as defensive frailties and mistakes gifted Paris Saint-Germain the advantage in the first leg.

Enzo Fernandez was the big positive on the night, delivering the standout performance for Chelsea, but even his goal wasn’t enough to take anything away from the game.

His look of disgust when Filip Jorgensen made his mistake said it all. He did everything he could to come out on the winning team, so you can understand his frustrations.

However, it wasn’t just his performance that caught the eye, as his celebration was great for any Chelsea fans who managed to spot it.

Enzo Fernandez points to the FIFA Club World Cup badge

After Fernandez made it 2-2 in the second half, he couldn’t help but wind up the PSG fans in the Parc des Princes by pointing to his Club World Cup badge on his shirt whilst celebrating to the Chelsea fans.

This was spotted by a number of fans on X, with the game being displayed on TNT Sports.

A clear attempt to show off the fact that Chelsea got the better of PSG in the final of the competition back in the summer, which ended with plenty of controversy.

And what makes it even more interesting is the fact that PSG’s interest in Fernandez has been picking up over the last couple of days, with L’Equipe reporting that he could leave if Chelsea doesn’t qualify for the Champions League next season.

Enzo Fernandez’s telling gesture

Fernandez’s goal against Paris Saint-Germain was more than just a momentary equaliser; it was a pointed piece of theater directed at his suitors in the stands. His decision to emphatically point to the Club World Cup badge on his chest was an action you wouldn’t expect from someone who’s eyeing a move.

By highlighting the emblem Chelsea earned by defeating PSG in last summer’s final, the midfielder sent a dual message: he is already at a club capable of reaching the pinnacle, and his loyalty remains anchored to the project Liam Rosenior is building.

Plus, Fernandez is one of the players who is likely to be in line for a new deal at the end of the season.
