Is Joel Embiid playing vs. Pistons tonight? Final status for 76ers star

The Philadelphia 76ers will be looking for a second straight win against the Pistons in Detroit on Thursday night.

But, they’ll be incredibly shorthanded for the contest.

Joel Embiid ruled out vs. Pistons due to right oblique strain

Sixers star center Joel Embiid has been ruled out of the game in Detroit due to a right oblique strain. It will be the seventh consecutive game missed by Embiid.

On the season, Embiid has appeared in just 33 games for Philadelphia and posted averages of 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 blocks per performance.

In addition to Embiid, the Sixers will also be without Tyrese Maxey (right finger tendon injury), Paul George (suspension) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (left elbow sprain). With so many key contributors sidelined, it will be a tall task for the Sixers to pull out a win over the top team in the Eastern Conference.

The Sixers came up short in the first two meetings between the teams on the season, both of which occurred in November. The teams will also meet again in April.
