Bombshell ESPN Brazil reports reveal Chelsea handed injury blow v Newcastle United as key man…

Newcastle United latest news: Chelsea will reportedly be without one key player this weekend when they face Eddie Howe’s side in the Premier League.

Estevao didn’t feature in Paris on Wednesday night as Chelsea fell to a 5-2 defeat in the French capital, becoming the fourth English side to lose in the Champions League in midweek. Only Arsenal, who scored a last-minute penalty against Bayer Leverkusen, and Newcastle United, who were only denied a win by a last-minute penalty from Lamine Yamal, avoided defeat over two days of damaging results for English football.

Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea twice pegged the reigning European champions back on Wednesday night, but a blistering end to the game from the hosts ensured that they would head to London next week with a three-goal advantage. PSG also do not have a match to play at the weekend ahead of their trip to London, whilst Chelsea meet Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior, though, will once again be without the services of Estevao who, according to reports from Brazil, is expected to miss out this weekend with a muscle injury. ESPN Brasilreport that the winger could return to action next week, either against PSG or Everton at the weekend, and in time to be named in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for their friendly matches against Croatia and France.

Estevao has missed Chelsea’s last five matches in all competitions and was also ruled-out of the reverse fixture against the Magpies at St James’ Park back in December due to injury. Speaking about the winger ahead of their clash with PSG, Rosenior said: “Estevao is back on the pitch, but he is not quite ready for this one.

“He just needs to clear a few more markers first, and we need to be careful with him given he’s had a hamstring injury. It will be a big boost to have him back with the group.”

Elsewhere, Rosenior will also be without Levi Colwill this weekend as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury. Colwill suffered an ACL injury on the eve of the campaign and has not played a single minute for the Blues since.

Rosenior revealed that he had returned to ‘partial training’ this week, but he faces a race against time to feature before the end of the season.

Jamie Gittens, though, could be back fit for Saturday’s game. The former Borussia Dortmund man missed Chelsea’s win against Wrexham last weekend and didn’t feature in Paris either.

On the winger, Rosenior said last week: "Jamie Gittens is getting really close [to a return] and he had a really positive scan. We hope that he can be back with the group within the next seven days or so.”

Newcastle United have not won a game at Stamford Bridge in over a decade, with their last victory in any competition coming back in 2012 and courtesy of a famous brace by Papiss Cisse. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday is scheduled for 5:30pm.
