Borussia Dortmund have secured a major boost by confirming that star midfielder Felix Nmecha has signed a new long-term contract with the club, ending speculation linking him with a move to CHELSEA
The Bundesliga side announced on Wednesday that the 25-year-old Germany international has extended his deal until 2030, adding two years to his previous contract which had been set to expire in 2028.
The new agreement represents a significant show of confidence from Dortmund, who view Nmecha as a central figure in the club’s long-term sporting project. According to club officials, the midfielder has become a key component of their squad and a player capable of shaping the team’s future in the coming seasons.
Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken said the club were “delighted” to extend their partnership with the midfielder, describing him as a vital part of their strategic planning.
Nmecha himself also expressed his commitment to the club after signing the extension, saying he had enjoyed “many great experiences” with the team and wanted to repay the trust shown in him by continuing to give his best performances on the pitch.
“I have had many great experiences with this club and its fans over the past few years and am very grateful for the club’s trust,” Nmecha says. “I want to repay that trust by giving my best for Borussia Dortmund.”
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl said in the announcement: “After some bad luck with injuries at the beginning of his time here in Dortmund, Felix has become a very important part of our team. His ability to cover ground and overcome opponents makes him extremely valuable to us in the center of the pitch, and he always finds creative solutions, even under pressure.
‘He brings incredible quality to the field – both for us and for the German national team. We are convinced that his development curve will continue to rise in the future.”
