Liam Rosenior claims Chelsea were ‘really, really good’ in one area against PSG

Despite the ominous scoreline, Liam Rosenior believes there were still plenty of positives for Chelsea to take from their Champions League defeat to PSG.

The Blues ended up losing the first leg 5-2, despite being level at 2-2 with less than 20 minutes to play in Paris.

Chelsea had been great throughout the first 70 minutes, although were forced to rue a number of goalkeeping errors from deputy Filip Jorgensen.

Liam Rosenior really impressed by Chelsea’s press against PSG

Chelsea had done really well to quickly win possession off the holders, and this was an area that Rosenior had a lot of praise for the Blues players in.

He told the Chelsea YouTube channel that he was very impressed by Chelsea’s press, although admitted he was disappointed at how the game eventually played out.

He said: “I felt our press was really, really good. We won the ball back in the half many times. They had passages of play.

“They’re going to they’re European champions, but we did too and we looked to threat and but for that really I’m really disappointed tonight because the we nearly score go I think it’s an inch offside with Joao Pedro. But for the margin to be that and turn into 5-2 is a really really painful one to take.”

What should Liam Rosenior’s next move be?🤔

Liam Rosenior forced to rue goalkeeper decision error

After watching Igor Tudor get it all wrong with Tottenham’s goalkeeper 24 hours earlier in the Champions League, Rosenior fell into the same trap against PSG.

Robert Sanchez has experience putting in a brilliant performance against the Ligue 1 side in the Club World Cup final, and has built up a relationship with the defence in front of him after featuring for the majority of the season.

It was a tough night for Jorgensen, and he will almost certainly be out of the side when they host PSG in the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Even a brilliant Chelsea performance might not be enough though due to the nature of the task in West London, and the blame has to sit at Rosenior’s door for this decision.
