Barcelona supersar absent from training ahead of Sevilla clash due to discomfort

Barcelona returned to training today after a day’s rest granted by coach Hansi Flick following the first leg of the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Preparations are underway for the next game, as in three days, the Blaugrana take on Sevilla at the Spotify Camp Nou, with 62,000+ spectators set to be welcomed to the stadium.

No Lamine Yamal in training

According to Carlos Monfort of SPORT, Lamine Yamal was a notable absentee from the Barcelona training session held by Hansi Flick today at the Ciutat Esportiva.

The superstar forward did not take part in the training session with the rest of the squad due to a general feeling of discomfort.

However, Barcelona have indicated that they expect him to return normally to the session scheduled for Friday. As a result, his presence in Sunday’s match against Sevilla is far from ruled out.

Barcelona’s No. 10 scored the only goal against Newcastle United in the Champions League tie to salvage a draw for his team at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

Yamal converted a penalty kick in the final moments after Joe Willock fouled Dani Olmo inside the penalty area.

As a result, the Blaugrana returned to the Catalan capital with a better feeling, while waiting to complete qualification for the quarterfinals next Wednesday when they face the English side again at the Spotify Camp Nou.

For now, though, the focus is on Sevilla, with Lamine expected to train normally tomorrow and be available for the match against Los Nervionenses come Saturday afternoon.
