Tony Dungy Confirms He's Out On NBC's 'Sunday Night Football'

After weeks of speculation, former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy confirmed that he won't be returning to NBC's "Football Night in America" this fall.

Shortly after NBC completed its coverage for Super Bowl LX, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported that Dungy will most likely be removed from the "Sunday Night Football" crew. The Super Bowl-winning coach has been working for the network for the past 17 seasons, so this news surprised plenty of people.

"The Dungy move is one of the first decisions in what is anticipated to be a new-look show. While it is the highest-rated Sunday pregame show, it has the benefit of being sandwiched between the late 4:25 p.m. window on CBS and Fox and its premiere game on Sunday night," Marchand reported. "The network may take the show fully on the road next season and slim down its cast, according to sources briefed on NBC's plans."

Marchand confirmed on March 12 that Dungy is indeed out as a regular analyst on NBC's "Football Night in America."

Dungy might not be the only analyst shown the door.

It was previously reported that Jac Collinsworth and Rodney Harrison could be on the way out as well.

"Awful Announcing has learned that it is unlikely analyst Rodney Harrison will return next season and that Jac Collinsworth's role on the show is also in question. Along with Dungy, the trio made up the show's satellite studio that traveled on-site to each Sunday Night Football game throughout the season," Drew Lerner reported.

Barring a sudden change of heart from NBC, fans should expect to see a revamped crew for "Football Night in America" next season.
