The NFL’s new league year has arrived, and teams have begun announcing a wave of transactions. With the legal tampering period behind us, free-agent deals and trades are now becoming official.

Along with signings and trades, teams have started confirming several anticipated releases. Among them, the Arizona Cardinals decided to move on from quarterback Kyler Murray.

Murray may not have to wait long to find his next home. ESPN’s Adam Schefter told Get Up! Thursday morning that Murray likely already has his next destination lined up.

Schefter said on the morning show, “I’d be shocked if [Murray] isn’t a Viking.”

Murray is scheduled to visit the Minnesota Vikings today, and many around the league believe he will sign there for the 2026 season.

Schefter’s comments strongly suggest that Murray could soon team up with wide receiver Justin Jefferson and head coach Kevin O’Connell. If things go well, Minnesota could even become Murray’s long-term home.

Reports have also suggested that the Vikings may be ready to move on from J.J. McCarthy. Murray would likely win a competition between the two and could seize the opportunity to claim the long-term starting role.

Murray’s talent is undeniable. His arm strength and mobility make him a dangerous modern quarterback.

However, questions about Murray have followed him throughout his career—most notably his height and concerns about his dedication. Still, if any coach can spark a resurgence, O’Connell might be the right one.

Murray will almost certainly look to flip the script on those lingering questions. What better place to do that than in a winnable starting situation with elite offensive weapons—and an offensive-minded head coach leading the way?
