NFL fans are happy to hear about the changes coming to NBC's "Sunday Night Football" in 2026.
Longtime NFL coach turned NBC analyst Tony Dungy has confirmed that he will not return in 2026. Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning head coach, has been an analyst for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" for the past 17 years. He confirmed on Thursday morning, March 12, that he will not be returning.
"I have been informed by NBC that I won't be back with FNIA this fall and it has given me time to reflect and also to look ahead," he wrote.
"It's disappointing news but I want to thank my NBC family for making the last 17 years so special. I'll have lasting memories of my time there, especially with Rodney Harrison who has become a tremendous friend."
NFL fans appear to be happy with the news.
NBC's pregame and halftime show coverage had grown a bit stale. It'll be interesting to see who NBC replaces Dungy with.
NFL fans praising NBC for the move
Fans are praising NBC for making some necessary changes.
"Now Dungy won't have a national platform to refuse to defend his Hall of Fame votes," one fan joked.
"We're really in the midst of a lot of tv guys we grew accustomed to watching over the decades fade out. In recent years we've had Dungy, Simms, Marv Albert, Jimmy Johnson, Tom Jackson, Bill Walton, Esiason, & Barry Melrose all age out of tv," one fan added.
"Mike Tomlin come on down. He's always felt like an NBC guy to me," one fan added.
"Great news. Never been a fan of Dungy," one fan added.
"Good. Dungy is a good dude, but an absolute bore," one fan added.
