Maxx Crosby says 'I'm a Raider' — but for how long?

Defensive end Maxx Crosby took to social media late Wednesday night for the first time since his trade from the Raiders to the Ravens was nixed Tuesday.

“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. I’m A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S---.”

Crosby declared that “I’m a Raider,” which is technically true. Whether that means he’s staying there, or whether the team will try to trade him again, remains open for interpretation.

The Raiders haven’t said whether he’s still on the market. Theoretically, Crosby declaring his commitment to the franchise would help the Raiders try to drive his price back up. The Raiders are lacking leverage after the Ravens backed away from sending them two first-round picks for medical reasons. Crosby is recovering from January knee surgery.

He returned to Las Vegas on Wednesday to continue his rehab. C.J. LaBoy, Crosby’s agent, said he is ahead of schedule and on track to return during the offseason program.

The Bears remain in the market for an edge rusher, be it via the trade or draft. The first and second wave of free-agent defensive ends has come and gone — with a hefty price tag. The Bears were once the betting favorite to land Crosby, who’d grown dissatisfied with the Raiders after an end-of-season dustup in which he was held out of the team’s final two games while they — successfully, it turned out — chased the No. 1 overall pick.
