Report: Chelsea are already planning to see if they can sign Tottenham player this summer

In what is fast becoming a game of North London chess, Chelsea are reportedly ready to join Aston Villa in testing Tottenham’s resolve over their Swedish sensation, Lucas Bergvall.

Chelsea already have their sights set on the summer transfer window, despite there being plenty to play for before the season ended.

A Champions League spot isn’t certain. The Blues are in a fight with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester United for a top-five spot, which could massively influence the kind of signings that are made.

Interestingly, after beating Aston Villa, Paul Merson believes that Chelsea will end up securing a top five spot, but the inconsistencies of late will have every supporter worried.

Regardless, it seems as if Lucas Bergvall will be on the Blues’ radar.

Chelsea want to sign Lucas Bergvall from Tottenham

Tottenham find themselves in a spot of bother at this moment in time under Igor Tudor. However, they’ve lost four games on the bounce, conceding 14 goals during that time.

The threat of relegation is enticing Chelsea, who have already had a long-standing interest in Lucas Bergvall.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea and Aston Villa plan to test resolve over Lucas Bergvall.

Bergvall is currently out with an ankle sprain, which has stunted his progress, but he’s still managed to make 26 appearances in all competitions.

Lucas Bergvall can bring excitement to Chelsea

Lucas Bergvall represents the modern orchestrator that Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea system currently lacks. At 20 years old, the Swedish international has already proven his mettle in the Premier League and Champions League, showcasing a level of composure under pressure that belies his age.

What makes Bergvall an exciting prospect for Chelsea is his positional fluidity; while naturally a central midfielder, he has effectively operated as a defensive pivot and an advanced playmaker this season, boasting an 83% pass completion rate and impressive ball-carrying metrics.

For Rosenior, Bergvall is a player capable of receiving the ball in tight spaces and executing the progressive, line-breaking passes that Chelsea’s current midfield sometimes struggles to sustain.

And in a squad defined by high-potential youth, Bergvall provides the rare combination of immediate Premier League reliability and a huge ceiling.
