Trent Alexander-Arnold has once again risked upsetting Liverpool fans with his latest comments as he remains on course to face his old side again in the Champions League

Trent Alexander-Arnold has risked the wrath of Liverpool fans once again after claiming it is a “dream come true” for him to be playing for Real Madrid.
The Reds’ vice-captain didn’t leave Anfield on the best of terms, with plenty of supporters less than pleased with the manner in which he ran down his contract before deciding on a move to the Spanish capital last summer.
Alexander-Arnold was booed before the end of last season, and although he got a better reception on his final appearance as a Liverpool player, he received a frosty welcome back when the Reds beat Real in the Champions League earlier this season - and he could be on course for another trip to Anfield later in the competition.

With Real having breezed to a 3-0 win in the first leg of its last-16 tie against Manchester City, Los Blancos will be the the favorites to progress to the quarter-finals. A win at that stage could then set up a semi-final against Liverpool, although Arne Slot’s side will need to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Galatasaray first.
If that does happen, then Alexander-Arnold may have made things a little more awkward for himself.
Reflecting on how he’s settling in after the win over City, he told TNT Sports: "Since I've found my fitness, found my feet in the team, I'm loving it here. I've loved it ever since I made the decision and joined the club.

Liverpool fans might not be best pleased to be hearing their academy graduate referring to playing for Madrid as his “dream” - especially when you consider that’s how he described playing for the Reds in the past.
Anyone who has seen his mural near Anfield - which has been the subject of vandalism since his departure - knows that it is adorned with the quote: “I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool whose dream has just come true,” which he uttered after winning the Champions League with his boyhood club in 2019.

Not only that, but Alexander-Arnold also spoke of his desire to one day become captain of the club. Although he did don the armband on a few occasions, it seems he gave up on taking the role permanently once Real came calling.
With that in mind, Alexander-Arnold perhaps shouldn’t expect a warm welcome back if he does indeed end up facing Liverpool again this season, with Madrid now aiming to finish the job against City.
"It's only half-time. If you are celebrating at half-time and thinking the game is done, your mindset is completely wrong,” he added on the tie against City.

“The whole club knows this isn't finished. We have seen crazy games between these two clubs before, so we can't rule out anything. We don't take anything for granted and will go to the Etihad and try to win there as well."
