Axel Disasi says there’s one thing people don’t fully understand about Moises Caicedo at Chelsea

Moises Caicedo is finally getting his flowers this season and being recognised as one of the best midfielders in England, with Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi explaining a part of his game that doesn’t get enough appreciation.

Comparisons between Caicedo and Declan Rice have been rife this season, with Petr Cech giving the edge to the Chelsea man recently.

Due to his excellent ability to win possession back, the Ecuador international has frequently only been praised for his physicality in the middle of the park.

Axel Disasi thinks Moises Caicedo’s ability on the ball is still underrated

Disasi however has seen a different side to his former teammate. He told the West Ham YouTube channel that his ability on the ball is underrated by many watching the midfielder.

He said: “He’s a top player, a top player, in training and in the games he’s the same. He’s running everywhere, you think you’re past him and he’s behind you, picking the ball, he’s strong. He’s a machine

“As well, with his feet, people think he can only recover the ball, but he is very good technically, very good. Honestly, he impressed me in Chelsea.”

Caicedo has helped form one of the best midfields in world football alongside Enzo Fernandez, with Reece James and Andrey Santos also playing key roles in certain occasions.

He has been forced to play an unsustainable amount of games though due to injury problems for Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo, however both are currently playing their way back into fitness.

Chelsea unlikely to sell Caicedo

With the ongoing financial woes at Stamford Bridge, there is some concern that they will soon have to part ways with a big name to balance the books, and Caicedo would fall into that bracket.

However, Chelsea are adamant no big names will have to leave, and they are actually working to make further assurances that the midfielder will not be in a position to leave the club.

Discussions over a pay rise for Caicedo have been underway following interest from top sides like Real Madrid.

It will be important for supporters who are already losing faith in the project to not see any of their superstars leave, with Caicedo alongside Fernandez, James and Cole Palmer in this category.
