Bam Knight, Starling Thomas V Agree To Return With Cardinals

After a season when the running back room depth was tested, the Cardinals are focusing on adding pieces to the room.

Bam Knight agreed to return to the Cardinals on a one-year deal, the team announced on Thursday. This comes after the addition of free agent running back Tyler Allgeier on a two-year deal.

The Cardinals also agreed to a one-year deal to bring back cornerback Starling Thomas V.

Having signed a futures deal during the previous offseason, Knight spent all of 2025 with the Cardinals. It was a surprise to many when he made the 53-man roster, but a strong preseason earned him a spot. With all of the injuries at running back, Knight found himself in a lead back role at times.

In 12 games played -- a career-high for Knight -- he finished the season with 269 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 82 carries. His season ended prematurely after an ankle sprain landed him on Injured Reserve. He was one of three running backs to finish the season on IR.

Thomas' season also took an unexpected turn last year. In line to compete for a starting job in his third season, Thomas tore his ACL during a training camp practice.

As Thomas looks to return to the cornerback position battle, during a rehab session, [Thomas posted on social media](https://x.com/ZachAZCards/status/2029274639919398984?s=20) that he sprinted over 20 miles per hour. In two years with the Cardinals, the undrafted corner played in 29 games and logged 85 tackles with 11 pass breakups.
