Real Madrid tell Liverpool how much they want for Camavinga

Real Madrid have reportedly named their price for Eduardo Camavinga amid interest from Liverpool. The French midfielder appears to be available this summer should a club pay the asking fee.

Camavinga has encountered a topsy-turvy season, blighted by injuries and inconsistent form. He has made 31 appearances across competitions, posting two goals and one assist.

The 23-year-old has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since the summer of 2021 when he arrived from Rennes in a €40m deal. He was on Liverpool's radar at the time and it appears they have a second chance of signing him.

Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto (via Madrid Xtra) reports that Madrid will consider offers for Camavinga this summer. Their starting price is €50m and he has three years left on his contract.

Liverpool have previously been reported to be eyeing Camavinga to bolster Arne Slot's midfield. Alexis MacAllister has regressed this season and the Argentine's future isn't certain at Anfield.

That same report claimed Alvaro Arbeloa told the club's higher-ups to sell the Frenchman because he has been underperforming. If they do part with the France international it might suggest that they listened to the interim coach.

Madrid are expected to be in the market for a new creative midfielder this summer but are also linked with holding midfielders. One of those is Paris Saint-Germain's Vitinha, who is flourishing in Paris but reportedly could cost over €100m.

Camavinga's versatility has been used ever since he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu. He has played as a makeshift left-back on occasion but his preferred position is in central midfield.

If Los Blancos are to sell one of their midfielders this summer it has always felt like Camavinga is most likely to depart. Aurelien Tchouameni has been a mainstay in the team when fit and there's no chance of Federico Valverde leaving.

A summer rebuild will focus on strengthening the squad for next season whether that be with Arbeloa in charge or someone else. But to conduct much-needed transfer business, outgoings are inevitable and Camavinga could be one of the casualties.

If the report is true, Camavinga might be playing for his Madrid future in the final few months of the season. He will be eager to prove his worth to Florentino Perez's board although if he were to move to Liverpool he could be handed more assured game time.
