Broncos going after national champion WR to help Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos clearly want another wide receiver.

That was made obvious by their rumored pursuit of A.J. Brown. It's also clear because of their interest in one of the 2026 NFL Draft's best wide receivers.

According to Luca Evans of the Denver Post, the Broncos will be hosting Omar Cooper Jr. on a visit on Friday.

Cooper is coming off a national championship season with the Indiana Hoosiers.

He played four college seasons for the Hoosiers, and he broke out in his last two years.

In 2024, Cooper averaged 21.2 yards per catch, which led the Big Ten.

Then in the 2025 title season, he had 69 catches for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns. That included his leaping, toe-tap grab at the back of the end zone to rescue Indiana against Penn State in their closest game of the year.

Cooper wouldn't have to be a star right away for the Broncos, because they have a deep WR depth chart.

Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims will all be back for Denver in 2026 to give Sean Payton lots of options and Bo Nix a lot of guys to get the football to.

Cooper would certainly set them up for the future, even if Sutton ends up moving along. The hope would likely be that Cooper can, at least in part, become a sort of heir for Sutton.

The Indiana star is also visiting the Cowboys, and will likely meet other teams, too, so nothing is a given here. But keep an eye on Cooper if he makes it to the Broncos at the 30th spot in the first round.
