Chelsea’s goalkeeper last night Filip Jorgensen is getting a beating online, and The London is Blue podcast have piled on too.
It’s not just his horrible error which made it 3-2 they’re annoyed about, or his weak effort to stop the 5th goal. It was the way the goalie tried to scurry away down the tunnel at full time, ignoring Reece James’ attempts to summon him back.
He was finally stopped at the edge of the pitch by Robert Sanchez and forced to confront the away support.
“Pathetic” player slammed for trying to hide after defeat
“The fact that you ran away at the end of the game is pathetic, man, It’s pathetic,” presenter Nick Verlaney said.
“I understand you’re upset, I understand being upset at your own performance. I understand wanting to crawl into a hole and die after that. I can’t imagine the pressure that’s on you…
“But when you have Reece James saying ‘hey, go clap the fans’, and you have Robert Sanchez saying ‘hey, go clap the fans, show them that you’re a man’, and then you run away… it’s not acceptable.”
It’s true. Anyone can make a mistake, but to run away from it just compounds the error.
