Romeo Doubs didn't need much convincing when it came to signing with the New England Patriots.
Doubs, speaking with reporters for the first time since signing with the organization, admitted that he was enticed by the idea of working alongside quarterback Drake Maye, head coach Mike Vrabel, and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, as shared by CLNS' Taylor Kyles.
“I felt like it was an opportunity, I felt like I couldn't pass on, in terms of just continuously staying grounded and growing on and off the field, I really believe this is the place where I can fulfill that," Doubs said, per video provided by CLNS Media. "... (Maye's) growth as a player on and off the field is really big. Just being able to lead the team… football is team game where each player has a role of fulfilling. I believe I have the right team to build around that.”
The Patriots are certainly happy to have the fifth-year wide receiver on their books, as his ability to play from multiple alignments and contribute in the running game likely made an impact on Vrabel and McDaniels -- with that duo likely to ask him to replace the production lost after the release of Stefon Diggs.
New England's other offseason moves have signaled a potential shift toward amplifying the running game while taking advantage of slants and crossers to open up those deep shots that are so loved by Maye, which means big things could be coming from Doubs.
