Eagles rumor would sign free agent WR to replace A.J. Brown after trade

The Philadelphia Eagles might be moving toward their A.J. Brown replacement at WR.

It could be Jauan Jennings, based on some updated news and rumors.

The Eagles have been working to create cap space this offseason, and ESPN's Ben Solak noticed and connected that to Jennings, the free agent WR from the San Francisco 49ers.

"Wonder if the Eagles are the Jauan Jennings team," Solak wrote on X on Thursday. "WR3 is open and could become WR2 with a Brown trade. Jennings is a high impact blocker at WR which would help mitigate some of their TE issues."

Jennings still hasn't signed even though a bunch of the other best WRs available are now off the market, and it's confusing to some, including NFL analyst Jeff Bell.

Bell wrote on X:

"In a league desperate for WRs, Jauan Jennings' value in free agency has been baffling two out of the last three offseasons."

The advanced metrics favor what Jennings does, and so does an anecdotal view of his career, when you consider that basically any role the 49ers have needed him to do, he's performed admirably.

There's been speculation that the reason Jennings hasn't signed yet is that teams are first prioritizing a trade for Brown before considering a different wideout.

What if, though, it's actually Brown's current team that wants Jennings the most?

This could certainly take some interesting twists, and it'll be worth keeping an eye on all these rumors as they continue to develop.
