If Liverpool are to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, targeting one of the best in Europe is a good place to start.

If Liverpool needed more evidence that they need to address the forward line in the summer it was the performance against Galatasaray.

Florian Wirtz is a fine player, but there is a feeling that he needs to have better targets to aim for on either wing in terms of industry, energy and running power which is why the Reds continue to be linked with several potential options. Mohamed Salah looks increasingly likely to be heading to MLS or Saudi Arabia and cut a forlorn figure in Turkey as he struggled to influence a game in the way that he did only last season.

Liverpool target Michael Olise branded world class

One player who isn’t having such problems is the Liverpool-linked Michael Olise who Vincent Kompany has claimed is on his way to being a world-beater: "He arrived with a mentality that gives him a chance to be one of the best players in the world," Kompany told reporters ahead of his side’s clash against Atalanta, via The Score.

“I don't want to compare the players, because they are not the same players at all. But the mentality, when I played with Kevin De Bruyne, I was lucky to watch him come through as a young player and see him become a superstar, a world star. It is that obsession for detail. And Michael has that. It's not enough. So, I think we have to push him to do more. But he's on a very good trajectory and it's a pleasure to witness it."

“Michael Olise is appreciated, but Bayern have no intention at all of letting him go. There’s no release clause in his contract. There are other realistic targets for Liverpool.” Every player has their price though and, if Liverpool want Olise, they have already shown last summer that their pockets are more than deep enough.
