A road trip will conclude on Friday, March 13, for the New York Knicks. Following an outing against the Utah Jazz, the Knicks are set to take on the Indiana Pacers.

Heading into the matchup, the Knicks are unsure about the status of their star center, Karl-Anthony Towns.

The team announced on the injury report that Towns is dealing with a knee-related setback.

During the Knicks’ Wednesday night win over the Jazz, Towns was seen leaving for the locker room during the first half. While that was a scare, it was a minor one. Towns returned to the court not long after getting checked out.

Could Karl-Anthony Towns Miss Knicks-Pacers Action?

For now, the Knicks are leaving Towns’ status at 50-50.

The good news is that he was able to finish the Thursday matchup without any notable concerns.

In 30 minutes of action, Towns shot 8-13 from the field and 3-6 from deep to score 21 points. He also dished out seven assists and came down with seven rebounds.

The Knicks defeated the Jazz 134-117.

For Towns, that game was his 63rd of the year. This season, he’s shooting 49% from the field and 37% from deep. The Knicks’ star is producing 20.0 points per game, along with 11.9 rebounds per game.

Where The Knicks Stand

By picking up win No. 42 on the year on Wednesday, the Knicks are moving closer to the second seed once again.

Currently, the Boston Celtics are sitting second in the Eastern Conference with a two-game lead over the Knicks. The Cleveland Cavaliers are placed fourth, trailing the Knicks by just 1.5 games.

This season, the Knicks are on pace to make the playoffs once again. These days, simply making it to the postseason isn’t enough. It’s expected, but it’s not the final goal.

It’s been an up-and-down year for the Knicks. After they hit a post-NBA Cup rough patch, New York got back on the right path. Now, they have to finish strong with a favorable seed and figure out how to make a deep run under head coach Mike Brown.

If Towns can’t get the nod to play on Friday, his next chance to take the court will be on Sunday, March 15. The Knicks are going to return home to host the Golden State Warriors for that matchup.
