Buccaneers free agent Christian Izien has signed with the Lions
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially won’t be bringing back one of their free agents.
According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, the Detroit Lions have signed now former Buccaneers safety Christian Izien to a one-year contract for the 2026 season.
Izien became an unrestricted free agent after the Buccaneers decided not to tender him. While this was the case, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Bucs were still interested in re-signing him.
However, with Izien signing with the Lions, his time in Tampa Bay has officially come to an end. Izien will now provide the Lions with another solid option for the safety position.
Izien spent each of the last three seasons with the Buccaneers, where he recorded three interceptions and 155 tackles in 45 games.
