Chelsea welcome Newcastle United to Stamford Bridge for a Premier League clash this Saturday.
Chelsea are currently in 5th, but could break into the top three with a win here depending on other results. Newcastle, meanwhile, are in 12th, and a loss here would just about put an end to their hopes of European qualification.
So can the Blues continue their push for a top three spot, or will Newcastle pull off what would be a huge victory?
Chelsea vs Newcastle United Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
Newcastle are unbeaten in their last three matches with Chelsea, winning two of them - but they were all at St. James' Park. At Stamford Bridge, meanwhile, the Blues are unbeaten in their last 15 matches against the Magpies.
Chelsea suffered a devastating Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain this week, coming out on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie. The performance, though, was not as bad as the scoreline suggested, as Chelsea had as many shots as PSG over the 90 minutes.
While Newcastle did not lose the first leg of their own Champions League clash with Barcelona on Tuesday, they will have come away frustrated. They looked set to take a 1-0 lead into the second leg at the Nou Camp before an injury-time penalty from Lamine Yamal allowed Barca to equalise.
In Premier League action, both of these sides are coming in on the back of good wins. Chelsea thrashed Aston Villa 1-4, while Newcastle put an end to Manchester United's good run of form by beating them 2-1 despite being reduced to ten men.
Newcastle's worry here is likely to be their poor away form this season. Eddie Howe's side have only won three of their 14 matches on the road, with two of those wins coming over Premier League strugglers Burnley and Tottenham.
Chelsea vs Newcastle United Prediction
On paper, these teams are evenly matched. However, Chelsea will likely be favoured here, for a handful of reasons.
Firstly, they have looked solid under Liam Rosenior recently, with their 5-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain largely flattering the French side. Secondly, Newcastle do not travel well this season, and have only won away once in 2026, beating struggling Spurs in February.
Thirdly, the influential Bruno Guimaraes will still be unavailable for the Magpies, leaving them shorn of arguably their best midfielder.
Eddie Howe's side won't make it easy for the Blues, but the prediction here is a home win.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle United
