The New England Patriots were rumored to be interested in Maxx Crosby this offseason, but one report suggests that they never had a chance at getting him.
The deal that would have sent Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens ended up falling through, but before that happened, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed that the Patriots never had a chance to get him because there was "no way Tom (Brady) was sending Maxx to (Mike) Vrabel," according to a source. The Patriots were one of the first teams linked to Crosby in trade rumors, and he would have filled a huge need for the team.
Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and some of his recent actions have given Patriots fans the impression that he may have some kind of beef with the organization. He refused to root for the Patriots in the Super Bowl, while many other former Patriots publicly said they were doing so. Many of his former teammates called him out for it as well. Eliot Wolf was asked about the report that Brady would not trade Crosby to the Patriots.
āIād be surprised if that was true,ā Wolf told NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry.
Perry also reported that Wolf said he has a strong relationship with Raiders general manager John Spytek, and the idea that Brady did not want to deal with the Patriots has never come up.
It is worth noting that Brady is not the general manager of the Raiders. He is a minority owner, but he does have some influence on the decisions the team is making. He serves as an advisor of sorts, which is not surprising considering his success and track record in the league.
In the end, Crosby is back with the Raiders and has announced that he is ready to play for them. The Raiders spent big on the open market, and now get a star defender back in the mix.
