Manchester United have the opportunity to freshen up their ranks this summer

Manchester United hold an ‘interest’ in Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, according to CaughtOffside. The Red Devils are being linked with a swoop for the player this summer. However, they could face competition from league rivals like Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, who have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Michael Carrick remains in interim charge at Old Trafford until a permanent manager is found. He was named as caretaker boss following Ruben Amorim’s sacking. The North West outfit are sat in 3rd place in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Kalulu is capable of playing at right-back and centre-back if needed which would make him a useful option for United. At the age of 25, he still has plenty of years left ahead of him. If he joined the Red Devils, he would give them more competition and depth at the back.

The France international, who has one cap to his name, has been with Juventus since 2024. They initially landed him on loan before his switch was later made permanent. He has made 82 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A giants, 39 of which have come this season, and he has scored three goals.

Kalulu started his career at Lyon and rose up through their academy before breaking into their B team as a youngster. AC Milan subsequently came calling in 2020 and he spent five years at the San Siro. He played 112 games before leaving for Turin.

United are back in action this weekend at home against Aston Villa. Speaking after their loss against Newcastle last time out, Carrick said: “We're not happy with the way we played tonight. We had it in our hands largely but credit to Newcastle.

"The way they approached the game, we knew it would be a tough game. We navigated the game in a way that we felt we could kick on but we didn't really. Bitterly disappointed. I don't think it was the 10 men, I just don't think we played good enough tonight. We can't make any excuses for that. We all take responsibility for that and we know.”
