NFL Draft 2026: Eagles linked to ‘terrific athlete’ to replace Dallas Goedert

The Philadelphia Eagles may still pull a rabbit out of their hat to re-sign tight end Dallas Goedert, for the second offseason in a row, but if the prolific pass catcher winds up elsewhere, general manager Howie Roseman may be ideally positioned to add a dominant replacement during the 2026 NFL Draft.

Fortunately for Philadelphia, this is a strong tight end class, and the Eagles may be able to add a reliable pass catcher and after-the-catch weapon for quarterback Jalen Hurts, in the first round of next month’s NFL Draft.

Over at Pro Football Focus, NFL analyst Dalton Wasserman put together a list of the ideal prospects for each team, based on their moves in the early portion of free agency, including the Eagles landing Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq in the first round.

“Goedert accounted for 624 receiving yards for Philadelphia in 2025,” Wasserman points out, for PFF. “The rest of the Eagles’ tight end unit accounted for just 116 yards, while Mundt logged just 111 with the Jaguars. Considering Goedert’s importance both as a traditional receiver and in their RPO game, they will need to fill that void or risk losing a dynamic portion of their passing game.

“Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq is a terrific athlete who could fill that void and serve as a flexible complement to Philadelphia’s blocking options at the position. Sadiq led all FBS tight ends with eight touchdowns in 2025, while his 560 receiving yards tied for the eighth most among that same group. He was never featured as the top option in Oregon’s passing game, but his athletic flashes and ability to create explosive plays after the catch would be a nice schematic fit for the Eagles.”

Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq talks with reporters during Oregon football’s Media Day on July 28, 2025, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.

It wouldn’t be the least bit surprising to see Roseman and the Eagles look to add a pass catching tight end who profiles as an elite athlete into an offense that struggled with consistency last season.

If the Eagles land Sadiq, and he can replicate or even surpass Goedert’s role in the red zone, it could be a big first step towards fixing an offense in Philadelphia that was mired in inconsistency last season.
