The San Francisco 49ers were in need of a receiver this offseason for Brock Purdy, and that search, somewhat surprisingly, led them to Mike Evans.
With the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star exploring his options, many thought that Evans would eventually end up back in the NFC South.
But he didn't.
And as he was introduced to 49ers fans, he gave perhaps the perfect answer as to why he joined the NFC West franchise.
"I feel like they were one piece away, and I'm that piece," Evans said via NFL.com.

Is Evans 49ers' missing piece?
Well, yes, you could make that case.
With Brandon Aiyuk reportedly done in San Francisco, plus with Deebo Samuel being dealt last offseason, the offense lacked a true difference-maker for Purdy.
It doesn't now.
Evans' experience will prove invaluable to the offense for Purdy, plus he will give them a consistent downfield threat, something they haven't had in years.
Is Evans really the final piece of the 49ers' Super Bowl puzzle? Time will tell.
