Manchester City could face a battle to keep hold of the attacker amid attention from elsewhere

Manchester City are scheduled for ‘talks’ with Jeremy Doku this summer regarding a new contract, according to TEAMtalk. The report says the winger is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid ahead of the next transfer window. His current deal at the Etihad Stadium expires in June 2028 meaning he still has two years left to run down.

Pep Guardiola’s side are sat in 2nd place in the Premier League table. They are chasing down Arsenal at the summit. The North West outfit lost 3-0 away at Real Madrid in the Champions League last time out on Wednesday night.

Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku eyed by Atletico Madrid

City signed Doku back in 2023 and he has since proved to be a useful option to call upon. He gives them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. In addition, his pace and power on the wing is a dangerous weapon for Guardiola.

The 23-year-old has made 117 appearances in all competitions to date, scoring 17 goals. Atletico Madrid could see him as someone to add more quality to their attacking department. They may need to fork out a hefty fee to try and lure him over to Spain though, especially if he pens an extension at the end of this season.

Doku, who has made 39 caps for Belgium, started his career at Anderlecht and broke into their first-team as a youngster. Rennes then came calling for his services in 2020 and he fired 12 goals in 92 outings during his days in France. City subsequently swooped in and he hasn’t looked back since. His future is up in the air right now though amid new links elsewhere.

After joining his current team, he said at the time: "Manchester City are the best team in world football, so to be joining them is something very special for me and my family.

"I am a young player with so much learning and improving to do. Working with Pep and his staff, and playing alongside these work-class players, will make me a much better player. I feel sure of that.
