The Nets big man was diagnosed with an ulnar collateral ligament tear in his left thumb. He will subsequently require season-ending surgery.

It is an unfortunate finish for Sharpe, as he has been putting up the best season of his young career. In 62 appearances, he averaged 8.7 points in 60.1 percent shooting with 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals, primarily playing as a backup for Nic Claxton.

But considering that Brooklyn (17-48) is set to finish with one of the worst records in the NBA and is bound for the lottery in the upcoming draft, Sharpe's looming absence won't be much of a blow.

Sharpe inked a two-year, $6.5 million contract with Brooklyn last season. His 2026-27 is a team option, and it's up to the Nets if they will pick it up or make him a free agent.
