NORMAN — Fourteen former Sooners returned to Norman on Thursday to showcase their skills in front of NFL personnel during Oklahoma's annual Pro Day.
With the NFL Draft six weeks away, Oklahoma hosted its Pro Day at the Everest Indoor Training Center, with scouts and representatives from all 32 NFL teams in attendance. The Sooners had two wide receivers (Deion Burks and Keontez Lewis), a running back (Jaydn Ott), a tight end (Jaren Kanak), two linebackers (Owen Heinecke and Kendal Daniels), four defensive linemen (R Mason Thomas, Marvin Jones Jr., Gracen Halton and Damonic Williams), two offensive linemen (Febechi Nwaiwu and Derek Simmons), a safety (Robert Spears-Jennings) and a kicker (Austin Welch) participate in varying capacities Thursday, as players went through measurements, drills — including the 40-yard dash, vertical leap, broad jump, 20-yard shuttle, three-cone drill and bench press — and on-field positional workouts.

Several OU players who participated in Thursday's Pro Day who also attended this year's NFL Combine opted to rest on their testing numbers from Indianapolis, while others sought to improve in certain drills. Thomas, on the other hand, did not go through any testing Thursday. A few players, including Lewis, Ott and Simmons, used Thursday's opportunity as their only chance to showcase their skills in that kind of setting ahead of the NFL Draft, which begins April 23. Neither of those three -- along with Welch, the kicker -- were invited to this year's NFL Combine.
