Manchester United have the chance to sign some new players this summer
Manchester United will ‘eye’ a move for Nottingham Forest defender Murillo this summer, according to i News. They are being linked with a swoop for the centre-back in the next transfer window. However, the report adds that they may face competition from Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid.
The Red Devils find themselves in 3rd position in the Premier League. They are aiming to get back into the Champions League this season. Michael Carrick remains in interim charge at Old Trafford.
Manchester United target Nottingham Forest defender Murillo
United could see Murillo as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined, he would bolster their options at the back. He has been a key player for Nottingham Forest over recent times and they could face a serious battle to keep hold of him when this campaign is over.
Murillo, 23, is under contract at the City Ground until June 2029 meaning he still has plenty of time left to run down on his deal. However, if his current club are relegated to the Championship, it is very unlikely that he will stick around. Therefore, they need to stay up to stand any chance of retaining his services.
The Brazil international, who has made one cap for his country to date, joined Forest back in 2023 and has since become one of their most prized assets. He has adapted well to life in England and has made 104 appearances in all competitions, 29 of which have come this term. Prior to his switch, he rose up through the academy at Corinthians.
Murillo penned an extension last year and said at the time: "I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.
"Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I’m very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team. I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us."
Meanwhile, owner Evangelos Marinakis said: "We dream big, and so does he. He believes in the power of what we are doing at this great Club. When we share the same bold ambitions, there is no limit to what we can achieve together.”
