The off-court situation surrounding Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has taken another dramatic turn after details surfaced that police were called during a dispute with his former fiancée shortly after the birth of their second child in Slovenia earlier this season.

According to a report by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, authorities were summoned to Kranj Maternity Hospital on Dec. 6 after a disagreement between Dončić and his then-fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.

The incident occurred one day after Goltes gave birth to their daughter Olivia.

Dončić had briefly stepped away from the Los Angeles Lakers earlier that week to travel to Slovenia for the birth. He missed games against the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 4 and the Boston Celtics on Dec. 5.

Sources familiar with the situation told ESPN that Dončić hoped to bring their older daughter, Gabriela, back to the United States with him when he returned to rejoin the team.

That request reportedly led to a disagreement between the couple at the hospital.

Goltes, 27, called local authorities after Dončić left the hospital peacefully.

Police Report Found No Criminal Offense

Officers responded to the maternity hospital and interviewed Goltes before later speaking with Dončić at his home.

According to the police report reviewed by ESPN, authorities “did not detect any elements of a criminal offense or misdemeanor” committed by the Lakers star.

Dončić had already left the hospital calmly before police arrived, sources told ESPN.

He later flew back to the United States that same day to rejoin the Lakers ahead of their Dec. 7 road game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

While the incident did not lead to any charges, it has since become part of a broader personal dispute between Dončić and Goltes that has played out behind the scenes.

Custody Dispute Emerges After Breakup

The situation became public recently after TMZ Sports reported that Goltes had filed a legal petition in California seeking child support and attorney fees.

Shortly afterward, Dončić confirmed to ESPN that he had ended the couple’s engagement.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Dončić said.

“Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

Sources told ESPN that Dončić later filed an interim injunction in Slovenian courts seeking immediate contact with both daughters.

Since arriving in Los Angeles for training camp, he has reportedly seen them only twice.

Luka Dončić Responds With Triple-Double for Lakers

Despite the swirling headlines surrounding his personal life, Dončić delivered a dominant response on the court.

Just hours after the TMZ Sports report and his admission to ESPN became public, Dončić produced a triple-double performance to lead the Lakers past the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The five-time All-Star finished with 31 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and one block in a 120–106 victory on Tuesday night.

Dončić controlled the game throughout, repeatedly breaking down Minnesota’s defense while orchestrating the Lakers’ offense.

The performance added another highlight to what has been a historic first full season in Los Angeles.

Dončić Leading NBA in Scoring

Even amid the off-court turbulence, Dončić has continued to dominate statistically.

The 27-year-old guard currently leads the NBA in scoring at 32.5 points per game while also averaging 8.5 assists and 7.9 rebounds.

Those numbers have placed him firmly in the MVP conversation and helped keep the Lakers firmly in the Western Conference playoff race.

For Los Angeles, the equation remains simple: as long as Dončić continues to produce at this level, the franchise remains a legitimate championship contender — regardless of the headlines surrounding its superstar.
