Newest Bengals talk Cincinnati’s championship opportunity

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - The Bengals’ opportunity to win championships was a key reason why their newest players said they chose to come to Cincinnati.

The Bengals announced the signings of safety Bryan Cook and edge Boye Mafe ahead of their introductory press conferences Thursday.

Mafe, a 2022 second-round draft pick, signed a three-year deal with the Bengals.

He said what excites him about coming to Cincinnati is the “opportunity.”

The edge rusher acknowledged that some people might question his stats, but he brings “untapped potential” that can show itself now with the Bengals.

Boye Mafe says he brings a “championship mindset” coming from Seattle.

Cook, who came into the league from the University of Cincinnati in 2022, also signed a three-year deal with the Bengals.

He comes back to Cincinnati after winning multiple Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs.

A championship-winning mindset is something both Mafe and Cook bring with them.

Like Mafe, Cook said the Bengals have the chance right now to win on the big stage.

Also on Thursday, the Bengals announced they signed Orlando Brown Jr. to a contract extension. The big left tackle is signed through the 2028 season.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old said there is no place he would rather be than Cincinnati and that the Bengals’ offensive line group is “special.”
