The Pittsburgh Steelers have made another splash secondary signing, adding veteran S Jaquan Brisker. Per multiple media reports, Brisker is inking a deal with Pittsburgh.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it’s a one-year, $5.5 million deal.
A second round pick in 2022, Brisker played his first four NFL seasons with the Chicago Bears.
Brisker was one of the top remaining free agents left. Not turning 27 until next month, he’s started 52 career games. Over that time, Brisker’s recorded 342 tackles (12 for a loss) with seven sacks and four interceptions. Last season, he tallied 93 tackles, one sack, and one interception while starting all 17 games. He’s picked off exactly one pass in all four seasons.
In 2025’s win over the Steelers, Brisker notched seven tackles and one pass deflection.
During the 2022 draft process, he measured in at 6013, 199 pounds. He ran a 4.49 40 yard dash with a 34.5-inch vertical and 10’4″ broad jump.
Brisker can play either safety spot. How he’ll be used in Pittsburgh is unclear, but it could be a sign Jalen Ramsey will play more slot cornerback with Brisker at free safety. Per PFF, here’s how Brisker divided up his snap counts in 2025 at his top-four positions.
Free Safety: 508 snaps
Box Safety: 421 snaps
Linebacker/EDGE: 164 snaps
Slot Corner: 103 snaps
For his career, Brisker’s played a near-even split of time in the box (1,289 snaps) as he has free safety (1,272 snaps).
He joins CB Jamel Dean as notable secondary signings the team has made this week. Dean is expected to start opposite Joey Porter Jr. Pittsburgh also signed veteran S Darnell Savage, though that move is purely for depth with no guarantee Savage even makes the 53-man roster.
A Pittsburgh native, Brisker played high school at Gateway before committing to play his college ball at Penn State. It makes today’s news a homecoming to join fellow Pittsburgh kid Mike McCarthy. If you want a look-back, here’s our scouting report on Brisker coming out of school. We’ll have a full NFL film room on Brisker in the coming days.
