Giants, Steelers and Packers could have interest in released former Browns starter

The Cleveland Browns have reportedly cut ties with one of their former starting offensive tackles and it's possible the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers could give him a look in free agency.

According to ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi, the Browns are releasing former starting right tackle Jack Conklin, which was expected after Conklin struggled mightily to stay healthy during his six years in Cleveland.

While Conklin isn't going to garner starting interest as a result of his injury history, he would amount to a strong and cheap depth option. When healthy, Conklin has shown he can be an above-average run-blocker and pass protector.

He has only played right tackle during his NFL career, but it's not crazy to think he could slide over to the left side in a pinch. Of course, any team that deploys him could slide their current right tackle over to the left side, also.

As we mentioned, three teams that could have interest in adding more depth at the position are the Steelers, Giants and Packers.

Pittsburgh has a starting duo of Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu, but the Steelers could use an insurance policy for Jones, who has been inconsistent, at best, and is coming off offseason neck surgery that makes him a question mark.

New York has a similar issue with left tackle Andrew Thomas. The former No. 4 pick's talent isn't in question, but his ability to stay healthy no doubt is.

It would make sense for Big Blue to add as much depth as possible to ensure there isn't a big drop-off if Thomas struggles with injury yet again.

When it comes to the Packers, their tackle situation is shaky with left tackle Rasheed Walker, who is a free agent, possibly not returning in 2026.

There is zero guarantee Jordan Morgan or whoever Green Bay chooses to replace Walker will adequately fill his shoes.
