Former Bears safety Jaquan Brisker is going home.
Brisker, who was born in Pittsburgh and attended Lackawanna College and Penn State, agreed to join the Steelers on a one-year deal Thursday.
Brisker, a former second-round pick of the Bears, wasn’t expected to return to the team this offseason. He played his best season last year — and finished with perhaps the best game of his career in the playoff loss to the Rams — but the team didn’t seem likely to devote serious money to both safety spots. They agreed to sign Seahawks safety Coby Bryant to a three-year, $40 million deal Monday.
Brisker was a physical force, sometimes to his own detriment. He suffered a concussion on a textbook tackle against the Panthers in 2024 and missed the last 12 games of the season. Last year was the first time he played in all 17 games.
Brisker finishes his Bears career with seven sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries over four years.
