Quinshon Judkins is not a fan of adding another highly-touted running back to the Cleveland Browns‘ backfield through the draft.
The Browns drafted Judkins and Dylan Sampson last season, reshaping their backfield after allowing Nick Chubb to move on. Together, Judkins and Sampson gave the Browns a promising foundation at running back.
Judkins logged 14 regular-season appearances, rushing 230 times for 827 yards and seven touchdowns while adding 26 receptions for 171 receiving yards. His season was cut short, however, when he suffered a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula that required surgery and landed him on injured reserve.
Sampson carved out a complementary role in his own right, contributing 89 rushing yards and 23 catches for 195 receiving yard, with his signature moment coming on a 66-yard screen pass touchdown against Las Vegas.
Quinshon Judkins Responds to Jeremiyah Love Speculation
Judkins dropped in on some fan speculation on social media, talking about the idea of the Browns drafting Notre Dame standout Jeremiyah Love, who is considered one of the best players in the draft.
“Do the Browns draft Jeremiyah Love and pair him with Judkins?” a fan said. “Like the Lions did with Monty and Gibbs?”
Judkins responded: “Guys don’t know ball man it’s sad.”
It’s easy to see why Love draws that kind of attention. The Notre Dame back averaged 6.9 yards per carry in back-to-back seasons and scored 18 touchdowns in 2025. At six feet tall and 212 pounds, he ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the combine.
However, there are concerns across the Browns’ offense — except at running back and perhaps tight end. The offensive line is being rebuilt and has been the primary focus in free agency. But the Browns need more receiving weapons, and quarterback is also unsettled.
Todd Monken Rebuilding Browns Offense
The Browns turned to Todd Monken this offseason to fix an offense that ranked among the worst in the league.
“There’s a reason why I was hired here,” he said. “Let’s not kid ourselves. I was hired to become elite on offense and that’s what we’re going to fight every day to be, and I’m fired up because I think we have a chance to really take off. I really do. I think the time is right now to take off and really build it the way you want, so you’re consistently competing for championships.”
Quarterback remains the central storyline for the Browns this offseason. Monken has dubbed it an open competition between Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.
“Sure, I think it’s an open competition,” Monken said. “I mean, I don’t why it wouldn’t be an open competition. I don’t mean that saying it harshly, but I don’t think there’s enough on film over the last couple years one way or the other to say, boy, we have our starter at quarterback yet. Whether internally or externally.”
Cleveland holds the sixth overall pick and No. 24. The Browns have 10 picks overall. But running back is the one position Cleveland doesn’t need to worry about. Judkins clearly feels the same way.
