The Seattle Seahawks are adding some depth and versatility to their secondary by bringing back a player who appeared in 14 games last season before his sudden release.

NFL reporter Jordan Schultz noted on Thursday that the Seahawks agreed to terms with safety D’Anthony Bell. As Schultz noted, Bell had a significant role in Seattle last year before his departure in late December.

“Sources: The#Seahawks are signing S and special teamer D’Anthony Bell to a one-year deal,” Schultz reported. “Bell was with the Super Bowl champs for 14 games last season before finishing the year in Carolina. He’s now back with the Seahawks for 2026.”

D’Anthony Bell Played Important Role in Seattle

Bell played the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns before joining the Seahawks last season. He appeared in 14 games, making 15 total tackles with a half-sack. He was a core special teams player, appearing in 251 total special teams snaps.

Though Bell had to watch the Seahawks make a run to a Super Bowl win, he did get some light playoff experience after being waived by Seattle. He was picked up by the Panthers and dressed for the team’s wild-card loss to the Los Angeles Rams, though did not record a snap.

Seahawks Have Addressed Special Teams

The Seahawks also addressed special teams by bringing back fullback Brady Russell, who played a regular role on the team’s special teams units.

“It means the world,” Russell said after signing, via the team’s official website. “I was definitely hoping to stay here, we’ve built something really special, and it’s really cool to be a part of the initial team when Mike came in and be a part of what we’ve built.”

Russell had the most special teams tackles on the Seahawks last year with 14, while also proving his versatility on offense by lining up at fullback and tight end.

He was named one of the team’s captains in the Super Bowl, the team’s official website added, and earned praise from head coach Mike Macdonald for his leadership.

“Brady, from day one, how much pride he took in his role, again, setting an example for how we want to operate here with our special teams units,” Macdonald said after the team named Russell one of the captains for the game. “Guys follow his lead. His energy every day is contagious. Love for his teammates, love for the game, unselfish. He’s tough as nails. You could argue he’s probably one of the best core four combo guys in the league. He’s been doing it for a couple years.”
