Two South Florida natives return home to play for Dolphins

Two South Florida natives have returned home.

The Miami Dolphins signed cornerback Marco Wilson and receiver Tutu Atwell on Thursday. A Broward County native, Wilson graduated from Plantation American Heritage while Atwell matriculated through Miami Northwestern.

Wilson spent the last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he racked up three solo tackles across four appearances. The former 2021 fourth-round pick has played for the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots in addition to the Bengals. A five-year veteran with 37 starts under his belt, the former Florida standout brings much-needed experience to cornerback room.

The rub: Wilson only has three interceptions in his career, all of which came during the 2022 season. His other career totals include 20 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and 179 combined tackles.

A second-round pick out of Louisville, Atwell has spent his entire five-year career with the Los Angeles Rams, winning a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2022. The wide receiver has racked up 1,535 yards and five touchdowns on 105 catches. Atwell, however, had the second-worst season of his career in 2025, finishing with six catches for 192 yards and a touchdown.

Atwell brings speed to a receiver room that’s pretty lackluster outside of Jaylen Waddle.

With the two South Florida natives in the aqua and orange, the Dolphins could certainly have some hometown cooking come September.
