The Liverpool under-21s boss has been discussing the qualities of Trey Nyoni.
Liverpool under-21s head coach Rob Page reckons that Trey Nyoni will have a bright future.
The midfielder joined the Reds from Leicester City in the summer of 2023. Nyoni made his first-team debut aged 16 and has regularly been around Arne Slot's side this campaign.
In total, Nyoni has made nine appearances for Liverpool in the 2025-26 season and caught the eye when coming off the bench in the 3-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
Two days later, the England youth international dropped down to the under-21s to face Wolves at the AXA Training Centre. Nyoni played a starring role as the young Reds delivered a 5-0 triumph.
The long-term challenge for Nyoni is to become a regular for Liverpool in the Premier League. And Page believes that the 19-year-old can go far in his career. Via RedMen TV, Page said on Nyoni dropping back down the age-group level: “He's handled it with class, absolutely. He's a top bloke and an unbelievable player, so he gets on great with the lads, and he's still a young lad himself. So, you know, I think he's best mates with Amara (Nallo). So whenever he comes down, he's great to have around him."
"Talk about football intelligence on the pitch, but he's got it, so you can see why he's gonna have a bright future in the game. He's brave on the ball, he can play as a six or an eight, he's so intelligent, he knows when to drop the ball to create a three. He can play as an eight, as I said, he's got the athleticism as well to run him behind him. Just an all-around great player."
After the FA Cup win over Wolves, Liverpool vice-captain Andy Robertson lavished praise on Nyoni along with 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who was named man of the match. Robertson said: "[Rio’s] a great kid. He wants to listen and to learn. Him and Trey [Nyoni] have been with us every single day and they are both special players, but they are also special people in terms of wanting to learn and improve.”
