Your latest dose of Premier League transfer rumours, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Brentford and more...
We start today’s round-up of all the latest Premier League transfer rumours at the Emirates, where a top-flight winger is being considered by Mikel Arteta’s side as a major summer signing.
The Gunners are top of the league table and will look to strengthen their ranks this summer, though first-team stars may need to depart the club in the process. According to reports by Caught Offside, they are targeting a move for Brentford winger Kevin Schade to add to their options from the left at present.
The 24-year-old has bagged seven goals and three assists this season and might not be the only Bees star to depart the club this summer. He has become a reliable Premier League performer and amidst doubts over the long-term futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, he could soon arrive at the Emirates.
“Arsenal and Brentford have a good relationship, so that could help with Schade,” one source told Caught Offside. “He’s been on the radar of a few clubs for some time now, but Arsenal’s interest is growing.”
Schade will not come cheap and could cost around €60m (£52m) if the Gunners are to prise him away from the Gtech.
The 3AM verdict: While the Gunners signing a left winger and Schade departing Brentford this summer both appear to be distinct possibilities, we are not sure if the pair are a perfect match for a move this summer.
Schade is a quality Premier League player but might not quite have the stardust or prolific nature in front of goal at present which the Gunners will require from a marquee attacking signing as they look to challenge on all fronts. The likes of Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and clubs in Germany have also been linked and could prove more likely moves for the Bees winger.
Man City to launch stunning move for PSG star man?
Meanwhile, Caught Offside relay reports from Sport in Spain that Manchester City have held secret talks with the agent of PSG superstar Ousmane Dembele.
The Frenchman has seen whispers of uncertainty over his future in Paris emerge and reporting states that City sporting director Hugo Viana has met with Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, as part of ‘routine contact’ which takes place between clubs and owners.
Whether that is actually all that it was is one question to ask, but it would align with recent reports by TEAMtalk that Dembele is currently ‘unhappy’ at PSG. The Ballon d’Or winner is one of the very best players in the world and would surely be the Premier League’s signing of the summer if he were to make a stunning switch ahead of next season.
The 3AM verdict: The reports do not clarify whether Man City’s contact with Dembele’s agent means that there is concrete interest in the PSG man, but it is easy to imagine that the Cityzens would jump at the chance to sign him if it were to arrive.
This appears to be purely speculative for the moment, though, and would also involve a massive transfer fee, considering that Dembele is the holder of the Ballon d’Or, factually voted as the best player in the world at present and in his prime years. But it is certainly worth watching out for if further murmurs arise over potential unhappiness for the France international at PSG.
