Mikel Arteta tells board to raid Germans and bring Bundesliga star to Arsenal

VfB Stuttgart defender Finn Jeltsch has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for several of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all monitoring the highly rated teenager ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to reports citing TEAMtalk sources, scouts from the three clubs have been keeping a close watch on the 19-year-old centre-back after his rapid rise in the Bundesliga this season. Jeltsch is widely regarded as one of Germany’s most promising young defenders and has attracted growing interest thanks to his composed performances in Stuttgart’s back line.

The defender joined Stuttgart from 1. FC Nürnberg in early 2025 and has quickly progressed through the club’s setup. Despite his age, he has already shown signs of the defensive maturity required at the highest level, impressing with his positional awareness, ball-playing ability and calmness under pressure.

Standing close to 1.90 metres tall, Jeltsch combines physical presence with technical ability — a profile increasingly sought after by top European clubs looking for defenders capable of building play from the back. His performances have also seen him feature prominently in Germany’s youth international teams, further raising his reputation across the continent.

Stuttgart are understood to be keen to retain the defender and view him as an important part of their long-term project. However, with interest from multiple elite clubs intensifying, the Bundesliga side could face significant pressure if major offers arrive during the summer transfer window.

Among the clubs monitoring the situation, *ARSENAL*’s interest could be particularly significant.

The North London side has placed a strong emphasis on recruiting young, high-potential players in recent seasons, and Jeltsch would fit that recruitment strategy. Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have developed a reputation for integrating young talent into a possession-based system that relies heavily on technically capable defenders.

From Jeltsch’s perspective, a move to ARSENAL could be an appealing option. The club has established itself as a consistent contender in the Premier League and regularly competes in European competitions, offering a platform for young players to develop at the highest level.

However, the teenager may also weigh the importance of regular playing time. Arsenal already possess several established centre-backs, meaning Jeltsch would likely face strong competition for minutes if he made the move to North London.

For now, Stuttgart remain determined to keep hold of their young defender, but with ARSENAL, Liverpool and Bayern Munich all reportedly interested, Jeltsch is expected to remain firmly in the spotlight as transfer speculation intensifies ahead of the summer window.
