Arne Slot says Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker could be fit again this weekend ahead of the visit of Tottenham, after Giorgi Mamardashvili deputized midweek in Europe.

The Brazilian is expected to rejoin training today but is not 100 per cent guaranteed to be available on Sunday. Federico Chiesa also missed the trip to Galatasaray in the Champions League because of illness. The Italian forward could return at Anfield, though he will only be named among the substitutes having failed to nail down a regular spot at Liverpool.

Swedish striker Alexander Isak, Slot said last month, could return around the March international break, which is now only two weeks away. He will need some time to regain match sharpness, but that would be a huge boost.

Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni are all long-term absentees. None of that trio are expected to be back available until the summer.

Liverpool has lost just one of its last 31 home league games against Tottenham (winning 21 and drawing nine). The Reds are unbeaten in 14 (winning 10 and drawing four) since a 2-0 defeat in May 2011.

Earlier in the week, Liverpool struggled to take its chances and make the right decisions against Galatasaray, losing 1-0 in the Champions League clash in Turkiye.

Slot took responsibility for that but insisted that his team had done more than enough to win the game, even if it was wide open at the back and could have conceded more goals too.

"I think [the forwards] were quite involved, to be honest, especially in the first half, where they had a lot of involvement," he said.

"We were — they were — a lot of times close to very promising situations, or even chances, because it felt to me at half-time we missed an opportunity.

"We missed an opportunity to score a goal to be in a much better position than we were at half-time.

"But the reality was that we weren't and then we came out in the second half, immediately get a good chance for [Alexis] Mac Allister's shot and, of course, not much later the one-on-one for Hugo.

"I think they had their moments. In an away game in Europe you cannot expect 15 chances for them, but the quality players they are usually — and another time they will be able to — get more out of these situations than we did today."

After playing Spurs this weekend, Liverpool then has Galatasaray in the second leg at Anfield and a trip to Brighton. The March international break follows that visit to the south coast.
