Nicolas Jackson’s agent is trying to get Chelsea to sign £70m attacker - journalist

Ali Barat is reportedly ready to utilise his deep connections at Chelsea to facilitate a summer move for Kevin Schade, a player Brentford value at nearly triple what they paid just three years ago.

Chelsea don’t know whether they’ll be playing Champions League football next season, but that hasn’t stopped them from considering potential additions.

The striker position is an interesting one. Nicolas Jackson is set to return in the summer, Emanuel Emegha is set to join from Strasbourg and Liam Delap’s future is under the microscope.

However, there’s no need to make any decisions until the season is over, as various factors may come into play and there’s plenty of time to change the outlook.

One thing that is for certain though is that Chelsea will be offered the chance to pick up a striker in the form of Kevin Schade, should they decide he’s the right fit.

Chelsea offered the chance to sign Brentford striker Kevin Schade

According to Christian Falk on BILD podcasts, Kevin Schade is up for grabs this summer.

“What’s important is that Kevin Schade plays a role on the market, let’s say. You hear that he’s, let’s say, being offered quite a lot. And certainly Bayern was a candidate where they checked in. But in the end, it would, of course, cost a lot of money. And now for a backup striker, backup offensive player, if it goes in the direction of 30, 40 million, probably at Bayern it’s currently not a priority.

“Yes, I looked around a bit. Brentford, they laugh at 30, 40 million, they say Bayern doesn’t need to call for under 70 million. It’s difficult for this backup option. It’s just too expensive at the moment. No question.

What should Liam Rosenior’s next move be?🤔

“You say the offer is of course also interesting in the constellation. Nicolas Jackson is not supposed to get a new contract. They actually wanted in the summer to rather get an offensive player, similar to Kevin Schade, instead of Jackson. But Ali Barat, he then brought Jackson in short-term. And who advises Kevin Schade? The same agency.

“So Ali Barat, we heard Tottenham might want Schade. They tried to place him at Chelsea, but at the moment at Bayern, no.”

Kevin Schade isn’t worth the £70 million

Signing Kevin Schade for £70 million would be a reckless expenditure that fails to address Chelsea’s actual needs. While Schade has blistering speed, his technical consistency remains a major red flag for a Liam Rosenior system that demands high-level ball retention.

Currently, Schade’s passing accuracy sits at a worrying 59%, a figure that would likely result in constant turnovers in a side that prioritises building through the middle. Furthermore, Brentford’s valuation feels inflated by agent-led hype rather than output.

Despite being a regular starter, Schade has managed just seven goals this season, frequently underperforming his expected goals (xG).
